My Career Journey

The Spark

For my undergraduate final project, I wanted to create something real and impactful. I convinced a mattress shop owner to let me build their first online store. This experience sparked a deep passion for emerging technologies, leading me to explore e-commerce and data management, which ultimately drove me to pursue a Master’s in IT from Carnegie Mellon University.

Eureka Moment

After graduation, I joined Vivisimo, a 100-person startup specializing in enterprise search, where I worked on developing modules for data crawling, indexing, and retrieval. However, it was during a User Acceptance Testing of a project that I realized the true value of my work. Unless my work delivered what user's wanted, it was not worth it. I asked my mentor, how can I create real impact?

My mentor’s advice—“Talk to customers, understand what they want”—became my guiding principle, shaping my approach to product development.

Transitioning to Talking to Customers all the time

My next step was consulting in big data and analytics, which was emerging as a game-changer for businesses. I had the opportunity to work closely with organizations to unlock the power of data. This gave me insights to understand different industry verticals, their different needs and their industry challenges. However, after a few years, H1B visa travel limitations led me to reconsider my career path. Seeking a new challenge, I transitioned into Sales Engineering, which allowed me to leverage both my technical expertise and customer engagement skills.

Customer Mindset & Competition

Sales Engineering was a transformative phase of my career. It shifted my mindset from understanding the problem to understanding the competitive landscape. I quickly learned that every interaction was an opportunity to build relationships, assess customer needs, and demonstrate the value of our solutions—key skills that continue to shape my work today.

Doing it better than anyone: Disruptor mindset

Eventually, I found my true calling in Product Management. For me, it’s all about solving customer problems in innovative ways that create real business value. Product management is not just about building products; it’s about aligning technology with business goals to drive sustainable growth. Since transitioning into this role, I’ve dedicated myself to creating value for customers, my organization, and myself. As a Product Manager, I’ve learned to navigate complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions that matter.

Life outside of work

Besides work, I am a father of a 3 yr old toddler and a husband. I strongly believe that family is a blessing that we all should cherish. So during my free time,  I like to spend time with my kid and make memories over vacations or backyard games.

For personal time, I like reading non-fictional books since there is enough awe and amazement in the real world. Few of my most interesting topics are :

1. Biographies - Reading biographies can be quite inspirational and instill the feeling of grit that a human can come over to achieve their objective.

2. History - Reading about history can truly explain the reason of the society we live in and why did it get shaped that way.

3. Human Psychology- Understanding how fluid human behavior can be and what you need to do to live an emotionally full-filling life. â€‹
